O2 Academy first opened in Birmingham, Dale End in 2000 with the venue bringing a fresh taste of live music to the Midlands with an outstanding show from Ocean Colour Scene. It later relocated to its current position of Horsefair, situated in the heart of Birmingham city’s ecstatic nightlife scene.
O2 Academy has been home to some of the greatest legendary performances with names such as Disclosure, Biffy Clyro, Paloma Faith and D’Angelo gracing the stage. As well as some of the Uk’s biggest rock ‘n’ roll residential club nights like Propaganda.

O2 Academy is the largest out of the three and has a raised viewing area on the balcony (up one floor). There is access to a lift or stairs with turns and the capacity for up 6 wheelchairs/ seats.
O2 Academy2 Birmingham has a dedicated balcony as a viewing area, also up one floor and can be accessed by using the lift or two flights of stairs with turns. There’s capacity for four wheelchairs and four seats.
O2 Academy3 Birmingham is the smallest venue with no specific viewing area. It’s on the ground floor and can be accessed directly from the main entrance.
The venue does not have its own parking facilities but there are bays and street parking locally on Bow Street and Irving Street. You can also park in the The Mailbox or Horsefair NCP car park which are both within metres from the venue. Please note standard parking tarrifs will apply and if you are a blue badge holder this must be displayed.
